Just to give an update on this project:

We have a demo of the ORCID badge widget that you can test by going to https://orcid.org/my-orcid?widget and clicking on the link to “Share your ORCID iD on other sites.”

Some of the feedback that we’ve received thus far is that it is quite large, and that it does not coincide with current iD display guidelines.

We expect to return to this project after we have finished deployment of the 2.0 API and have released the updated display guidelines in 2017.

If you have any feedback on this feature please let us know either here or at support@orcid.org

      Warm regards,
      ORCID Community Team

      Hi Richard,

We're actually testing this out now and hope to have a widget to let you generate code for a badge about your ORCID record available in the next month.

        Hi,

Thanks for reminding us about this bug. We’re actually in the process of switching how we do search (we’re moving from Solr to Elastic search). Once we’ve completed that update, which is scheduled for this summer, we’ll look at adjusting our search to work the way you very nicely described.

        Thanks,
        -Catalina

        Hi Masayuki A. Fujino,

You can record your middle initial in the published name field of your ORCID record see (http://support.orcid.org/knowledgebase/articles/142948-names-in-the-orcid-registry). You can enter information in the ORCID registry using a character set and accents will be displayed as you enter them. This idea that we're working on is just for changing how the search functionality handles those characters.

        Best,
        -Catalina

        Hi,

Thanks for your offer of the macro. This isn't something we need now as the issue is about searching for accented characters not entering them. But we appreciate the support.

        Best,
        -Catalina

          Hi,

This idea hasn't been abandoned, but it's not currently being worked on so I'll move the status back to under review. When we launched the Education and Employment Sections we decided not to add professional associations at that time but to leave the option open for possible future development. I'll update the status again once we make a final decision.

            Hi Robert,

We don't have a firm plan or timeline for this project yet as the details are still being worked out. But I've moved the status up to started as we are working with OpenID and have started coding the integration. I'll update the status again when we are further along.

            Best,
            -Catalina

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

This occurs because there are actually two sites: The ORCID Registry (into which you sign in) and a static ORCID website.

We do want the sign-in state to stay consistent as you move throughout the ORCID site and are planning this as part of our interface upgrade. We’ll update this thread as we have further information.

              Warm regards,
              ORCID Community Team

              Hi,

Just letting you know we are working on this. The issue isn't the signed in state it's the part of the ORCID website you are on. You don't get logged out when you go to a top menu link, but you end up on our About site, which is separate from the Registry and it can't tell if you are logged in. This will be address by an interface update (that's what is mentioned in the other comment you reference- we've had lots of updates in the last year but no major redesigns of how the ORCID website looks). Later this year we'll be redoing the About section of the site so it looks different from the Registry and it's more clear that you're still logged in when you visit it.

              Best,
              -Catalina
