It's very annoying to Sign In and then want to either view the main ORCiD page or visit the help pages and "lose" my "signed in" status. It's even more annoying to want to add a comment/question and not be given the opportunity to sign in with my ORCiD account info! I don't want my comments to be linked with my Facebook account!!

How old is this idea? Where is the date first submitted?

I'm surprised this hasn't been fixed yet and that it doesn't have more votes. This is my #1 gripe with the orcid.org website. How many other legitimate websites ask you to sign in every time you click a top level navigation link? Note, there's a very similar 'idea' here: http://support.orcid.org/forums/175591-orcid-ideas-forum/suggestions/3286470-login-state-should-be-consistent-throughout-the-si with an ORCID rep comment from 1.5 years ago saying login persistence was planned for the next update. If it was implemented, I'm afraid it doesn't work for me.

Hi, Just letting you know we are working on this. The issue isn't the signed in state it's the part of the ORCID website you are on. You don't get logged out when you go to a top menu link, but you end up on our About site, which is separate from the Registry and it can't tell if you are logged in. This will be address by an interface update (that's what is mentioned in the other comment you reference- we've had lots of updates in the last year but no major redesigns of how the ORCID website looks). Later this year we'll be redoing the About section of the site so it looks different from the Registry and it's more clear that you're still logged in when you visit it. Best, -Catalina ORCID Support

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

This occurs because there are actually two sites: The ORCID Registry (into which you sign in) and a static ORCID website.

We do want the sign-in state to stay consistent as you move throughout the ORCID site and are planning this as part of our interface upgrade. We'll update this thread as we have further information.

    Warm regards,
    ORCID Community Team
