Yes, keeping the ORCID records accurate is key. How about getting a notification each time Scopus wants to add a new item with a click-to-approve link?

I'm with Gary. Automatic updates would be very convenient. However, in my opinion the strongest point of the whole ORCID idea is that all entries are actually made by the author himself or an authorized person. Abandoning this policy would make ORCID mostly pointless. Therefore having the record updated automatically _after_ a confirmation by the author seems to be the most accurate and convenient way.

We’ve release new functionality in the ORICD API that allows you to grant ORCID member organizations permission to update your record at any time. This functionality is still new, but our members, including Scopus, are starting to take advantage of it and automatic updates should be available shortly.

More about the functionality and some of the members who plan to start using it is at http://orcid.org/blog/2014/11/21/new-functionality-friday-auto-update-your-orcid-record
