    ORCID (APAC)

Thanks for your suggestion to improve the ORCID Registry.

Our understanding is that you are suggesting this as a part of the manual works entry. For example, you would use the "Add manually" button, open the work manual entry box, enter the identifier, and then the data would auto-populate. Is that correct?

You can already add works using a DOI -- using Search & Link wizards!

ORCID has connections from your ORCID record with CrossRef Metadata Search and DataCite which enable you to add works to your ORCID record using a DOI. To do this:

    1. Sign into your ORCID record: https://orcid.org/my-orcid
    2. Scroll to the works section, then Add works, then Search & Link
    3. Choose CrossRef Metadata Search for published articles or chapters with DOIss, or DataCite for datasets with DOIs
    4. Grant permission to add activities to your ORCID record
    5. Search CrossRef or DataCite using the DOI and claim your works to send them to your ORCID record

    Warm regards,
    The ORCID team

Is this (or will this function be) enabled by the API? In other words, if I have a list of DOIs for papers authored by a particular person, can I use the API to update their ORCID profile (with their authorization of course) using only the DOIs?
