There should be an interface in ORCID for the researcher/proxy where it would be possible to manually identify the "Work" resulted from the "Grant" entry.

Coming from a Funding Organisation, I couldn't agree more. This is information that could also come from AuthorID and ResearcherID systems - both of which are planning to include grant information. Links between Grants and Publications will soon be available in the RCUK Gateway to Research API.

    Hi,

Just letting you know that we're moving this suggestion from Postposed to planned as it is something we want to start working on this year. We're still in the early phases of figuring out the best way to link Works and Grants but we'll keep you updated as we make progress on this feature.

    Best,

It would be brilliant to link publications to the grant that funded them. I think this is really important, especially if it could automatically notify the funding project officer's ORCID account when a new publication is linked to a grant number (being able to search for grant numbers and for ORCID accounts to "claim ownership" of a grant for activity notifications would be even more useful). I do not know of any service that does this at the moment and it could be a critical improvement for grantee/granting agency accountability.
