    Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm interested to hear more about how we could best capture the work done by PhD advisers. Do you see it best captured as having the thesis listed on your record with a role set to "Adviser"? Or would you suggest a new category of "service" items that might include serving as an adviser? Or do you have another suggestion? We'd like to get your input in the comments to think about the best way we might complete your suggestion.

    Thanks,

Hi Catalina, A thesis is an examination, so I would add subentries in education: title of thesis (with URL) and names, ORCIDs of advisers. As you suggest, you would need a new category "advisees" (or maybe a subcategory under "services", although many would object to that categorisation) to list names, ORCIDs, theses of our students. Matching would be challenge. If a student just leaves a name of a supervisor, I would leave it at that. If a student gives a name and an ORCID, I would send an email to the supervisor asking for permission to add this to their profile. Hope this helps Richard

For institutions which add thesis and dissertation records to student ORCID records, it makes sense that the advisor, and possibly even committee member roles could be added to the thesis/dissertation information.
