    Thank you for the suggestion.

It is unclear where the checksums (to populate the additional field) would come from. Could you please provide more information or examples?

Dear Mrs. Mejias, well in my case I calculated them with a locally installed perl-library offering the SHA algorithm. In other cases the checksum could be copied from the institutional repositories that hold the digital objects. The field could be optional so that only in case where known or where calculated, the checksum is added. For instance the key word fields are also optional. What about allowing a checksum field to be activated and filled in? Best Regards

Thanks for your comment. Are you aware of organisations currently adding data to users' ORCID records which also store and would transmit checksums as a part of the metadata? Many thanks, ORCID Community Team

Dear Mrs. Meijias, there is an oai interface http://edoc2.bibliothek.uni-halle.de/lssaoams/oai/?verb=GetRecord&metadataPrefix=mets&mode=view&identifier=58778 which lists checksums as part of their mets record. Checksums as optional information is also being discussed in the following blog: https://github.com/mets/METS-board/wiki/CR-1.7-add-checksum-support-for-metadata Best reagrds, Thorsten Wetzenstein
