ORCID records are used by more than 500 organizations globally, from national funders to professional organizations to research institutions and more.
These institutions use ORCID records because:
- The records can contain information about a wide array of scholarly activity from publications to peer review to affiliations to grants, and
- (Most importantly) the items in the ORCID record, and access to the information the record contained, are completely controlled by the researcher.
No one can get into your ORCID record without your permission, and you completely control who may see the information it stores.
