Internet access is required to use ORCID. The computer you are using to access the ORCID website needs to meet certain minimum requirements for browsers and plugins.
Is your browser up to date?
The ORCID Registry works best on the latest versions of internet browsers and on major operating systems. Here are the browsers we support, with links on how to update them:
If you are using an older browser, our site may not display correctly or might not even work at all. If you don't know what browser you are using, use What’s My Browser to find out.
Due to recent Chrome updates affecting cookies, the ORCID Registry no longer works on older versions of Chrome, older versions of Chrome-based browsers, and several other browsers. If you experience issues with the ORCID Registry, please update your browser to the latest version.
If you are using a current browser and still encounter problems with the ORCID Registry, please contact us.
Authorize, Register, or Sign-in button not working? Known plugin issues
If you click the Register, Sign in, or Authorize button and nothing happens, this is a sign that a plugin or an add-on installed on your browser is interfering with your access to the ORCID Registry. Some plugins or add-ons intended to protect your online privacy, such as uBlock, will block your access to any site, including ORCID, unless you specifically add ("whitelist") the site to your list of trusted websites. We invite you to reference documentation for your particular plugin or add-on to learn more about whitelisting orcid.org.
