I suggest that...

Add a field for lab codes

Many researchers have lab codes that are widely used in nomenclature for many model organisms. It would be very helpful if there was an explicit field in the ORCID record to record this information. See examples of lab codes at:
http://dels.nas.edu/global/ilar/Lab-Codes (used in Mouse and Rat Nomenclature)
Other model organisms have their own lists.

    Thank you for your suggestion.

    We have marked this iDea as declined as this functionality is already available through our Member API. ORCID member organizations can assert validated information to ORCID records, once researchers’ permission has been granted. We recommend that you reach out to PNAS (ORCID member organization, https://orcid.org/members/001G000001CAkZYIA1-pnas-national-academy-of-sciences) and request that they start populating the field “Other IDs” with lab codes, using the Member API.
