Why don't you add a photograph of the researcher
Apologies for the long silence on this topic. We spent a lot of time last year thinking through – with our Board – what ORCID is and is not.
Many users think of ORCID primarily as a profile system and, although your ORCID record can be used in this way, that is not the primary goal. The most important thing about getting an ORCID iD is that, in addition to uniquely identifying you, it enables you to connect information from other systems to your record and to connect your ID with other identifiers, such as for publications, grants, organizations, etc. And this can increasingly happen via automatically (with your permission).
We believe that allowing users to include a photo of themselves on their ORCID record will create further confusion about ORCID being a profile system, so we won’t be adding this functionality.
Thanks for suggesting it and for all your comments – please continue to suggest how we can improve ORCID.

Social media without visual does not look up-to-date. ORCID should permit users to upload their photographs.

Here should be recent photographs of researchers.
yes, I agree. Adding photograph will improve the biography.

Boring without profile picture
You've been considering adding pictures since 2012? You're surely the last social profile site to wait that long to do the obvious.
Second Gravatar suggestion, that's a great little service for grabbing a profile photo with near-zero effort for the user, pretty widely used. Heck, UserVoice connects to gravatar.com - as evident in the majority of user comments on this site which are displayed with avatars.
Regular photo upload be good too, though.

Could use GRAVATAR: http://www.gravatar.com/ (a service for providing globally unique avatars) for this
