I suggest that...

Create RDF terms for linking a person to their ORCID

We're looking to publish RDF data about the people at our institution, and it would be good to link our people to their ORCIDs. Defining a datatype for use with skos:notation (http://www.w3.org/TR/skos-reference/#notations) would go a long way towards this.

Hi, I just wanted to update you on RDF developments with ORCID. Through the help of the Open Source community we’ve started the process of adding RDF support to the ORCID Registry, you can see more about this at https://github.com/ORCID/ORCID-Source/pull/656

We understand the advantages of adding RDF representations, but I’m not sure when we will have the time to get to it. Right now the ORCID team is focused on fixing major bugs and rolling out promised features and we won’t be able to address this suggestion for many months. But we appreciate the feedback and do want to implement your suggestion; I’m marking this idea as postponed until we are able to add it to our development timeline.
