ORCID iDeas Forum

Thanks for your ideas. The process to turn an idea into an active part of the ORCID Registry is described in the article How are new features decided? (see link) While we want to get to every suggestion, our limited staff time means that some features will have to wait until future development cycles. We look forward to reading your ideas.

I suggest that...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. I deplore the use of hackneyed challenge questions, such as 'mother's maiden name', the answers to which can be looked up in Who's Who.

More enlightened institutions allow you to compose your own question as well as the answer, such as "Uncle George's bridge partner?"

But an alternative is to forget about the password altogether. Simply enter your username to cause an email to be sent, click on the link in the email and you are logged in! To accept or decline a review invitation can work just this way.

    Best wishes

Thanks for your suggestion to improve the ORCID Registry.

We’re going to add this to our list of improvements to consider for the future and will update here accordingly.

      Warm regards,
      ORCID Community Team

    • ORCiD implement two-factor authentication

For added security, you could consider implementing two-factor authentication.

Thanks for your suggestion to improve the ORCID Registry.

Offering two-factor authentication is a feature that we are considering for the coming year. Follow our process at: https://trello.com/c/Qep41Vg5/13

In the meantime, if you would to use two-factor authentication to sign in, we would suggest linking a support social or institutional account which offers two-factor authentication. You can read more about alternative sign in options at:
