Google is actively indexing the ORCID.org site and individual profiles. However, there is a delay between a profile being created and Google, and other search engines, adding it to their index. This delay is why you might not see your profile being listed in search returns yet.

We are still working on improving how ORCID is indexed in search engines though, beginning with correcting the description that is provided in the search results screen. You can see our work on that issue in our development tracking system at: https://trello.com/card/optimize-the-title-tags-for-display-in-search-engine-results/50a39ffc0fdb1b383f003e9c/34

I think they do get picked up, it just takes a little while for Google to index them. E.g.
        http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ridgway+orcid
        does find my ORCID page.

Having said that, it might be that this only happens after they get linked to from somewhere else that Google indexes... e.g. my ResearcherID page links to my ORCID one, so Google might have found it from that rather than directly.
