Roles in the "add manually" section
Can you include "Acknowledged" or "Contributor" to the roles dropdown so you can claim papers you helped with, but didn't qualify for authorship
We’ve combined a couple suggestions about researcher roles into this idea where we can keep you updated with progress. ORCID is planning to review the role options that we capture and how those roles are displayed shortly. We will be including all the ideas proposed in the forum in that review and will provide an update once that review is done. If you have any more suggestions for roles please leave them as a comment on this idea.

With our upgrade to the API v2.0 we have partially addressed this idea by adding a new peer review functionality.

There seems to be some confusion here, related to ORCID's field "contributor" which for some uploads will be automatically populated with the names of authors (e.g., when pulling records from SCOPUS). When uploading a BibTeX record, on the other hand, the "contributor" field does not populate with the authors, and there is no functionality to add this information by hand. It seems very essential when uploaded a publication to be able to name the AUTHORS and to have that recorded as metadata. ORCID should enable entering AUTHOR names manually, as one can enter title, journal, URL, etc.
However, please do not set this up so that "contributor" and "author" are not synonymous. The acknowledged authorship on the actual publication is an essential matter (e.g., a journal paper has specific authors named, others should not be able to claim authorship in ORCID if they did not have authorship in the actual publication.
If there's some other role (e.g., "designed cover art for ...") I suppose that may have a place, but getting into "acknowledged for useful discussions" undermines the entire premise that ORCID is a credible source to link authors to their work.
It should be possible, when adding a record, simply to state who WROTE the document. At present, there is no functionality to do this.
For publishers, it should also be allowed to acknowledge who (ORCIDs) is working as a reviewer for them, and in which journals. Not necessarily specifying to which specific paper.
Something like a "reviewer" tab, next to "publications", which the publisher themselves authorize which journals they contribute as reviewers. It will have something like Applied Optics (2012), Physical Review E (2013), etc...

I agree that reviewing needs to be more valued, but I am not sure that ORCID is the right place to do this...
Regarding Jackie's comment here, adding a "reviewer" role to publication entries would only be appropriate for works whose reviewers were not anonymous. As far as I am aware, this is a very small minority (e.g. the Frontiers series, http://frontiersin.org, but not many other journals).
On the other hand, being able to add a list of journals for which one has reviewed to ones ORCID profile seems superficially very appealing, but it would be very difficult to avoid abuse. If someone claims to have reviewed for Nature, it would be difficult to challenge this, particularly if ORCs (to coin a phrase for those with ORCIDs) listed reviewing duties from the distant past (e.g. the current staff of Nature might not have complete records of all reviewers going back many years...).
On reflection, I think it should be the individual journal's responsibility to acknowledge their reviewers appropriately, from year to year, using their own records of who reviewed for them (and how much, and perhaps even of what quality -- see http://www.peerageofscience.org)
